Job description:
Ecofrost is planning to expand its site in Péruwelz (Belgium) and to build a brand new facility in Péronne (France). For the 2 sites, this involves adding production lines to increase production capacity and develop the sales range.
Main mission :
The Continuous Improvement Manager - Technical Department is the single point of contact (SPOC) for production managers regarding technical issues. He/she is responsible for continuous improvement projects and actively contributes to the search for innovative technical solutions to problems impacting productivity, profitability, quality, safety and the environment. His role also involves analyzing recurring breakdowns to identify root causes and propose sustainable solutions. In addition, he or she acts as an essential link between technical project managers and production line managers, ensuring that technical skills are passed on to end users.
Responsibilities :
1. Technical support
- Act as SPOC for production managers in the event of major or recurring technical problems.
- Provide technical support and expertise to effectively resolve technical incidents impacting production.
2. Management of continuous improvement projects
- Identify, plan and coordinate continuous improvement projects to optimize productivity, quality, safety and sustainability of operations.
- Manage projects from start to finish, from identifying needs to implementation and post-project follow-up.
3. Search for technical solutions
- Propose and implement innovative solutions to technical problems affecting productivity and profitability.
- Collaborate with various departments to identify and deploy best practices and technologies.
4. Trouble shooting and problem solving
- Carry out in-depth analysis of recurring breakdowns to identify root causes.
- Develop sustainable solutions to prevent the recurrence of problems, ensuring that they meet safety and environmental objectives.
5. Relay between teams
- Act as a relay between technical project managers and production line managers to facilitate communication and implementation of solutions.
- Ensure alignment of objectives and common understanding of procedures and expectations between different teams.
- Collaborate with teams to promote the exchange of best practices and maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
6. Transfer of technical skills
- Train production teams and end-users in the correct and optimal use of facilities.
- Develop and share best practice guides to reinforce the technical skills of production teams.
7. An example
We've just installed a mini-production line to validate (or not) trucks of fresh potatoes, on an objective basis. It's a very good investment which works 80% well, but there are still some small IT, technical and design problems to be improved. This could be one of your improvement projects. (watch the movie).
Profile required:
- Education: Engineering degree in mechanical engineering, electromechanical engineering, industrial engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience: Proven experience (5 years minimum) in a similar position, ideally in the food processing or manufacturing industry.
- Technical skills: Excellent skills in problem solving, project management, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Personal qualities: Autonomy, analytical and synthesizing skills, good communication skills, ability to teach technical skills.
Performance objectives:
- Reduce technical breakdowns by [X]% per year.
- Improve productivity of production lines by implementing specific projects.
