General mission :
The water management and wastewater treatment plant technician is responsible for the proper operation of water collection, treatment and purification facilities, as well as operational monitoring of the wastewater treatment plant. It is also responsible for the production and management of sludge from wastewater treatment. It ensures compliance with regulatory standards and the optimisation of treatment processes, in order to guarantee a continuous supply of high-quality water and the effective treatment of wastewater.
Main responsibilities and activities:
1. Management of water collection and treatment facilities
Monitor the correct operation of the collection equipment (pumps, filters, pipes, etc.).
Ensuring that water is treated according to production requirements (pre-treatment, softening, disinfection, etc.).
Carrying out regular water quality analyses in collaboration with the laboratory technician.
To monitor the preventive and corrective maintenance of the water treatment facilities.
2. Monitoring the Potabilisation Plant
Monitoring the potabilisation process: dosing reagents (chlorine, etc.), monitoring chemical and microbiological parameters.
Ensuring compliance with drinking water standards.
Carry out regular water quality analyses in collaboration with the laboratory technician.
3. Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations and Sludge Management
Controlling the operation of the treatment plant: monitoring physico-chemical and biological treatments (anaerobic reactor, aerators, anoxia, clarifiers, decanters, etc.).
Adjusting treatment parameters to ensure discharge quality (pH, BOD, COD, etc.).
Managing the production of sludge: extraction, storage, dehydration, and possible recovery (composting or land application).
Monitor performance indicators and optimise the plant's energy and chemical consumption.
4. Monitoring and reporting
Carrying out inspection rounds and taking daily readings.
Completes operational monitoring sheets and service reports.
Working with the production, maintenance and environment departments to ensure that discharges are compliant.
5. Plant maintenance and safety
Carrying out first-level maintenance on equipment (pumps, valves, probes, etc.).
Reporting malfunctions and coordinating work with the maintenance department in the event of a breakdown.
Applying and ensuring compliance with safety instructions and risk prevention protocols.
Skills and Qualifications :
Technical knowledge of hydraulics, water chemistry and biology applied to wastewater treatment plants.
Mastery of potabilisation and purification processes (physico-chemical, biological).
Experience with supervision systems and CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) tools.
Ability to interpret water analyses (pH, conductivity, turbidity, BOD/COD, etc.).
Ability to work as part of a team and in collaboration with other departments.
Good problem-solving skills and ability to react quickly to incidents.
Organisational skills and rigour in regulatory monitoring and document management.
Working conditions and constraints:
Working in an industrial environment
Working mainly outdoors
Need to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
Distance to cover and ladders to climb up to the towers.
On-call duty as required (emergencies or critical breakdowns) and possibility of 2/8 shift.
Education and experience required:
2 to 3 years' higher education in water management, water treatment, chemistry or the environment.
Experience in a similar position, ideally in the agri-food or industrial sector.
Driving licence required for possible travel between different sites.
We offer :
A varied job involving decision-making and related responsibilities in a growing company.
After a trial period, a permanent contract.
A pleasant, dynamic working environment in a family-run business.
A fair salary commensurate with your skills.
The opportunity to progress within the company
